Hey everyone, today I am presenting you the latest update of Dark Souls: Prepare to die again,
which is called Of Ash & Dust. This has been a crazy journey and I am so happy to release this
update today after working on the mod for almost three years now. Thanks to everyone who
helped and supported me over the time.
The mod has been on a long journey over the years, from
inception as a Scholar of the First Sin-esque expansion of Dark Souls 1 to a
complete rework of the scope of progression and regaining that feeling of the
first run through your journey across this gaming classic. Much has now been
adapted - from the addition of new spells to upgraded bosses and areas
given much more meaning and a sense of cohesion across both the first and
second half of the title.
All of that- and now, all with new things to experience... with the long-awaited and
carefully developed v9 - Of Ash & Dust
One thing to note is that PTDA is not compatible with ANY other mod which affects
gameplay (such as "Rekindled", or "Daughters of Ash")...
this is a standalone project and should be treated as such - though generally
speaking graphics enhancers will pair just fine.
I do hope you all enjoy Of Ash & Dust, and to be sure - try not to go Hollow out
there in Lordran :D

Hi, the mod's name is "Prepare to die again", but since version 5, each big update got it's own subtitle. V8 was called "Lordran Reborn" and v9 is now called "Of Ash & Dust".

Edit 3: I think i found the problem....my game is in 1.01......and steam wont update my copy for whatever reason.......im pretty sure pirating 1.08 or 09 copy is still illegal so ill gonna try to find a way to manually update it....
Every tiime i launch the game it says INVALID GAME VERSION....ive unpacked my files dragged and dropped PTDA files into the directory and no matter what it wont launch ive looked on google and nothing was even in english so.......i would love assistance...

no, this mod is not compatible, because it edits some of the files that PTDA also edits.

Hi, if I ever do an update to PTDA it will still be for both versions.
However, there are currently no plans for a big update to this mod as I am working on a big Roguelite mod for Dark Souls 3.

Hi! I will like to ask if in the future could you do that this mod work with the DSDAD, i can only use that Mod Manager for play and i will love to use this mod and Git Gut

this mod DOES work with dsdad, the only thing that won't work are the icons for all the new items.

EDIT: Accidentally posted here, happened in the remastered version.
I was doing a bunch of quitouts (trading with the crow nest) and after i placed a blooming purple moss Clump and quitted, i was thrown back to the starting cell. Door is closed, cannot open, had to use homeward bone, some loot is available again (from what i've experienced so far, consumables), the NPCs had a reset, as if i've never talked to them before, have to lit my bonfires again (also at Firelink Shrine my firekeeper is absent, so it says i can't lit it when i try, but as for the visuals it seems lit and i also can use it)
Is this intentional? :D
I'm kinda lost here, went in totally blind, not sure if i should just start over or if it's fine.

This sounds like a very strange bug and is not intended, so it would be the best to just start over, if you don't mind.

So my hellkite glitched out and I can no longer get the ancient blood from it - is there any way for me to finish the ancient dragon questline? I've been trying to complete it but without hellkite I don't think I can

Installed this mod again after a while, but now my game is in german. I forced it to english before via DSfix (since my OS is german, I just prefer to play games in english) but that doesn't seem to work anymore. DSfix is still working, it just ignores the english setting somehow? Am I missing something here? Is there another way to set the game back to english for me?

Es scheint auch dass der mod nicht richtig läd, ich krieg die Nachricht am Anfang, aber keine neuen Klassen oder so (siehe bug report, scheine nicht der einzige mit dem Problem zu sein)

I cant find any responses regarding the infinite load screen bug after the asylum. Every time its brought up no one replies that I can see. Is there a work around or fix for this?

Install the mod and no other mods. Play until you arrive at Firelink, then install any graphic mod you want.

Hello, I saw your mod in a youtube gameplay, download it to see it, but to my disappointment the game is only compatible with the steam version, I was even thinking about buying it, but when I went looking for the prepare to die version, I found out that it's not there is but how to buy, really sad to know that because of the company's greed, we non-new players won't be able to enjoy this masterpiece of yours.

I know, but my notebook is not DirectX11 compatible, so I can't even open the launcher, I can only play prepare to die edition

Use a website such as g2a or anywhere you can get a CD key for a steam purchase, just because its not on the steam store doesn't mean you cant get it for your account, i would hate for you to not be able to try this mod out because steam and From removed the OG versions of the game

I fought that enemy just before Quelaag and now I've got this permament health drain. What gives? Was it a result of some weapon he had?
